Abstract
View PDFClothes dried outdoors can easily become wet again during sudden rainfall, and continuous manual monitoring of the weather is inconvenient for users who are busy or away from home. This paper proposes an Automatic Rain-Sensing Clothes Protection System that detects rainfall and moves the clothesline to a covered position without human intervention. A rain sensor module supplies a wetness signal to an ESP32 microcontroller, which confirms rain using a threshold and a consecutive-sample check to avoid false triggering, and drives a DC geared motor through a relay or motor driver. Limit switches stop the clothesline at its end positions. When the sensor stays dry for a predefined period, the controller reverses the motor and returns the clothes to the drying position. The Wi-Fi interface of the ESP32 is planned to feed a web dashboard that shows rain status, motor status and clothesline position and offers manual control, while a buzzer gives a local alert. The system is organized into five modules: rain detection, microcontroller, motor and relay control, clothes protection mechanism and web dashboard. It is planned for implementation with low-cost, easily available components. This paper presents the architecture, methodology and planned evaluation of the system; no experimental results are reported.
